In my paintings, I strive to capture the "forest experience" rather than a literal forest. Influenced by my daily walks, I layer impressions of reflections, light, floating leaves, branches, mosses, and my own thoughts and emotions onto the canvas. This process is fluid and organic, resulting in a cohesive whole where various brushstrokes and paint methods play a crucial role. The search for the right colors, tonalities, and the joy of painting are significant to me, creating a sense of nature with depth and space to get lost in.

Similarly, my portraits aim to capture the essence of a person while maintaining the spontaneity and playfulness of the paintstrokes.

In my ceramics, I think with my hands, experimenting with shapes and textures. I balance possibilities with the constraints of gravity and fragility. I also experiment with glazes, sometimes using ready-made options and other times creating my own. The unpredictability and the surprises from chemical reactions during kiln firing are aspects I cherish.

About me

I grew up in the Netherlands, in the city of Weert and its surroundings. After studying in Utrecht, I lived with my husband and later our family in Amsterdam, Haarlem, London, Paris, and Brussels, before returning to Weert after more than 30 years. After 3 years in Weert, I now live in Singapore for a while. I am the mother of three adult children: two daughters and a son.

After finishing Fashion School in Weert and obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Communications in Utrecht, I completed courses in Painting, Drawing, and Ceramics at the Academy of Visual Arts (BKO) in Overijse, near Brussels, specializing in painting. I currently live and work in Singapore.
